At Sussex Coaches we pride ourselves not only on the presentation, and comfort, of our fleet, but also the level of safety we provide. Every one of our vehicles undergoes a rigorous Department of Transport approved maintenance programme, which includes stringent daily safety pre-use checks which are digitally recorded and monitored, and an intensive four weekly inspections and service regime.

All coaches are fitted with speed limiters, seat belts, and secondary braking devices for both your comfort and safety.

The majority of fleet vehicles are fitted with CCTV both internally and externally so safety can be monitored. Tracking is available on most vehicles so we can locate a vehicle at a moments notice.

We take road safety extremely seriously, our management team continually monitor safety performance markers and compliance data to verify that everything is just as it should be.

Absolutely, we specialise in hires for Schools. You can relax knowing all our public based staff have Enhanced DBS clearance, All drivers are West Sussex County Council approved  and carry visual identification. All of our staff receive Safeguarding Training and the majority of Drivers are also First Aid trained. We take our duty of care seriously and understand the importance of safe reliable transport on which you can depend.

We can support Teachers with compliance documents for all hires, from Health and Safety Documents, Company Policies, and Insurances and Current Risk assessments for travel. We have an excellent range of both regular and high capacity vehicles so whether you are looking to move one class or the whole school we will have an option to suit your needs.

Sussex Coaches are based in Billingshurst and predominantly offer hire locally in the South Coast Region of England, but we can also offer hire Nationally or Internationally.

We welcome passengers of all ages on our vehicles.

Every person on board must be accounted for in the numbers travelling so if you hire a 57 seat coach then you can only have 57 passengers travelling including babes in arms, as this is the maximum number of people the coach is legally certified for. Buses have an overall carrying capacity which includes both seated and standing

Babies and young Infants can sit on a lap or be placed in car seats but please note car seats are not covered by our insurance, as they are not an integral part of the vehicle and not tried and tested or certified for use with coach seats.

We have both lap and three point belts on our coaches should you have a preference please let us know at the point of booking and we will do our best to accommodated any requests for your hire.

No, the majority of our fleet is fully compliant and can enter London without charge. This means most of our coach fleet meets low emission criteria which is healthier for you and healthier for our Environment. Should  on a rare occasion, we not have an available vehicle meeting the requirements, any cost will already be included in your hire quote so you never have to worry about unexpected LEZ or ULEZ charges. ( Same applies  for clean Air Zone Cities like Bath, Bristol and Portsmouth).

Incidental parking is included in the majority of hire quotes. If there are venues or locations where incidental parking is not covered, likely due to variable charges for events or very high charges this will always be highlighted in advance by email and on your hire confirmation. Examples of this would be Wembley Stadium, The o2, Birmingham NEC etc.

The amount of luggage space available varies per vehicle, as a general guideline, a coach is usually designed to carry 1 small suitcase or soft holdall per passenger seat on the vehicle, which would be stowed in the under lockers. In addition each passenger can have a small item of carry on  hand luggage per seat in the vehicle.  If you think you will have luggage in excess of  that we do have vehicles with extra luggage room, please let us know your requirements. and we will ensure the right vehicle is selected for your hire.
